Today the Prime Minister visited Cornwall, less than 100 days since the General Election, to underline his personal commitment to deliver the pledges we made in the Cornwall Manifesto http://bit.ly/1f7DVeB
Putting more power into the hands of people in Cornwall, who can improve our wellbeing is at the heart of the Cornwall Deal the Prime Minister announced during his visit. More opportunity for our Local Enterprise Partnership to drive forward sustainable economic growth, improved skills training, more high quality apprenticeships and business support. More local decision making for Nigel Blackler at Cornwall Council to improve our bus services and enable an integrated public transport system. I also welcome the commitment to enable a more joined up working for our local NHS and care services. Read his comments in the Western Morning News http://bit.ly/1fMlKMl
Before the Deal is concluded it will be scrutinised by people here as well as senior civil servants so we can draw on all the talents, local and national, to ensure the Deal is right and public funds are spent wisely.
I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that our local public services are fairly funded and are able to work in new ways to improve the quality of life for one and all.
