Sarah Newton MP congratulates the Royal Cornwall Falmouth Polytechnic Society Building Regeneration Project for their successful application in securing £20,000 of grant funding, despite fierce competition.
This funding will be used to provide the first steps for the Royal Cornwall Falmouth Polytechnic Society to bring the Polytechnic building into the 21st century with disabled access, sound insulation, and modern technology to become Cornwall’s foremost state of the art venue and community hub.
Sarah Newton MP commented by stating:
“Like many local people, I really value the Poly and I am pleased to see it go from strength to strength. I wish to congratulate all those involved in helping to make the bid a success.”
The purpose of the Coastal Revival fund is to help kick start the revival of at risk heritage sites that have the potential to create opportunities for new businesses and jobs.
In total, 77 Coastal Revival Awards have been made, totalling £3 million in grants. The funding that has been awarded will be passed to the relevant local authority, on behalf of the applicant.
Due to the exceptional quality of the bids, a further £1 million of funding will be made available in 2016/17 for projects that narrowly missed out.
