Sarah Newton, Member of Parliament for Truro & Falmouth, has welcomed the u-turn by Cornwall Council on proposed cuts to the funding for Cornwall’s Citizens Advice Service.
In a statement issued today, Cornwall Council announced that it has found four years of budgeted funding for Cornwall CAB, a u-turn on the previous plans by the Liberal Democrat/Independent-led Council that would have seen £200,000 slashed from the essential service.
Commenting, Sarah said:
“I am glad Cornwall Council’s leadership has made this common sense decision. CAB led a vigorous campaign and I am pleased that my Conservative Cornwall Councillors and I made sure the voices opposed to their plans to cut these essential services for people in Cornwall were heard loud and clear.
I work closely with CAB and am looking forward to continuing our important work together for many years to come.”
