Sarah Newton MP is urging all vulnerable customers to register now with Western Power's free Priority Services scheme. Those registering for the scheme will be provided with a direct number to call so they can get straight through to the necessary help in the event of a power cut, they will be kept informed of any planned interruptions to the supply of electricity and will have the option of agreeing a password before a house visit takes place to make them feel safer.
Sarah meets this week with the Chief Executive of Western Power Distribution, Robert Symons, to discuss what Western Power are doing to ensure secure electricity supplies across Cornwall during the stormy weather and throughout the winter.
You are eligible for the Priority Services scheme if you depend on electricity for home medical care, if you have special communication needs, such as being blind or deaf, and if you have certain non-medical needs but require assistance during a prolonged electricity supply interruption.
